April 14th - What a day it is !
Last year, today we won EQ. (Chee, sorry folks, my English is getting bad. Beg your pardon.)
Well, last year, same day we won the EQ finals. One of the best cherished moments in my life.
Again, same day, in 2004, I scored my first (and only) half century in national Under-19 cricket tournament. They are 20 over matches, and hence, a half century is very special.
Today, I was afraid the April 14th good luck charm will be shattered by Microprocessor and Microcontroller University Lab exam. It almost did, but oh boy, what a turnaround it was !
As usual, I went to the exam without studying all experiments, but, banking on my luck. It has never failed me in my three years of engineering life. To be precise, so far 16 labs have transpired and I have been lucky every time. So, today I entered the lab with the odds in my favour.
I picked up the paper, and was stunned a moment. Rate generator and bit manipulation. the first one is damn easy, and I knew it very very well. The second one, was a nightmare, and I had conveniently omitted it. What to do ? Well, just shut up and sit and write what you can, I told myself.
I began to write the rate generator, and finished it in 10 minutes. I went to madam and asked her to sign. 'Where is the second one ?", she asked. "Mam, I am blank. Cant remember a thing.", I replied.
At that moment, my dear Venus showered her blessings upon me. Madam began to refer the model three marks (I dunno for what) and noticed I was absent. "Why dint you write model three ?", she asked. I was already very tense for not knowing one program, and blurted out, (in a bad grammar), "Er, I have measles madam." (It must have been "I HAD measles madam.")
Madam quickly jumped two steps back, and asked, "Oh, you are ill ah ? Don't strain, sit down. Oh, thats why you are blank with the second program eh ? No problem, sit down and I will ask external madam what to do."
I believed fully in my luck, and sat down. In 5 minutes, she came back, and told, "Arun, write the program which you know." I quickly offered to write 8 bit multiplication using 8051, (the only program I properly know in 8051) and she was ok with it. So I wrote, and hence ends the story.
So friends, as they say in Om Shanti Om, everything will end happily in our life, just like our movies. If it doesn't, then the movie is not yet over my friend ! And if it happens to be April 14th, then there is no way the ending is going to be unhappy !!
