Game on !!


There are phases in life when you feel so useless and so good-for-nothing, its times when you have nothing to do or nothing exciting is happening around you. Not now though, we have the knockout stage of FIFA World Cup, Wimbledon's exciting 4th round (as I type this, Maria Sharapova Vs Serena Williams match is going on !!), Natwest series ODIs going on in England and for ardent cricket fans, South Africa Vs West Indies Test series in West Indies. India has reason to cheer as well; Asia Cup victory after 15 years, Saina Nehwal's hat-trick victory and a Test series coming up in Lanka.

The most important thing is the excitement and the 'Wow' moments these events have in store. Roger Federer almost losing in Wimbledon first round, India-Pakistan ODI in Asia Cup and England's nail biting victory in the third ODI against Australia, were all instances where the element of uncertainty was gripping and one couldn't help admiring the beautiful cruelty of life, where a small mistake can cost a lot. Also, its not all about avoiding mistakes, most of the times its is equally important to capitalize on the opponent's mistakes.

Time to get going, Maria-Serena match is going good and closely fought. Lets see who is going to capitalize on whose mistakes !! :)

சிறுவயதில் உறங்குவதற்கு முன் சிறிது நேரம் பாட்டியுடன் ஏதாவது கதை பேசிவிட்டு (அல்லது கேட்டுவிட்டு) உறங்குவது வழக்கம். சில விஷயங்களை தாய் தந்தையுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொள்வதை விட பாட்டியுடன் பகிர்வதில் ஒருவித மகிழ்ச்சி. பள்ளியில் மறுநாள் ஏதாவது போட்டி அல்லது பரீட்சை என்றால் அடிவயிற்றில் பட்டாம்பூச்சி பறப்பது இயல்பு தானே. அப்படிப்பட்ட தருணங்களில் "பாட்டி, நாளைக்கு ஸ்கூல்ல டெஸ்ட் இருக்கு. பயம்மா இருக்கு." என்று கூறினால் தவறாமல் வரும் பதில், "எதுக்கு பயப்படணும் ? நீ ஏமாத்தல, பொய் சொல்லல, திருடல. இது எதுவும் பண்ணாதவன் எதுக்கும் பயப்பட வேண்டாம்." எவ்வளவு பெரிய விஷயத்தை எவ்வளவு அனாயாசமாக சொல்லிவிட்டாள்! வாழ்க்கையில் சில மலைக்க வைக்கும் தருணங்களிலும், பெரிய நெருக்கடி தரும் தொல்லைகள் வந்த போதிலும், பயம் என்ற ஒன்று சற்று எட்டி பார்க்கும் நேரத்தில் எல்லாம், ஒரு மந்திரம் போல தைரியம் கொடுத்த வார்த்தைகள் அவை.  சிறுவயது முதல் பல கஷ்ட நஷ்டங்களை அனுபவித்து இருந்தாலும், அவைகளைத்தாண்டி எப்பொழுதும் தனக்கும் தன்னை சுற்றி இருப்பவர்களுக்கும் ஒரு  ஆக்கபூர்வமான சூழ்நிலையை உருவாக்கிக்  கொள்வதில் கெட்

சென்னையில் ஒரு மழைக்காலம் (Monsoon in Chennai)

Though there is a popular belief that Chennai's weather can be classified into only three categories, (hot, hotter and hottest !!), the climate prevailing now is just perfect for the festive season, and people like me having a pre -exam vacation. Waking up in the morning and instantly feeling a cool breeze from the other side of the window caress the face is a real pleasure. The pleasure doubles when I know I can fall back to the bed, this time covering my face with blanket, and realizing there is no college to prevent me from snugly curling up and going back to sleep again.
