The winning habit

A comfortable 6 wicket win at Cuttack has given a 5-0 scoreline in favor of India. They are evolving as a great unit and hope this helps the team to sustain the high standards for a long time. A lot has been (and is being) written and said on the Indian victory, why dont we focus on why England are losing ?

The reason for their failure seems as simple as adding two plus two. Of the eleven players who are supposed to play, only 3 or 4 of them seem to be playing for a cause at a time. Only Pietersen , Shah and to an extent Flintoff seem to bat a bit. In bowling, again its just Broad and Flintoff who cause a little bit of trouble. The rest of them are just bowling as if they are at the nets.

And is Matt Prior the best wicket keeper in England ? Surely there must be someone better playing for some county team. That someone will atleast know to appeal spontaneously, and not 5 seconds after the ball enters the gloves.

If the poor quality of British cricket is disappointing, the advertisements in Neo Cricket are irritating. Guess these must be the instructions given to the guy switching between live relay and advertisements:

* As soon as the match starts, count six balls. Then telecast advertisement. Let the bowler run in again, and u can switch back to match. (They seem to have forgotten there can be wides and no balls)

* If a batsman is out, immediately go to advertisements. Dont bother to show the replay. Switch back to match after the bowler starts the next ball. (Seriously, it gets on to the nerves not being able to watch the replay)

* Once the game is won, dont waste a second showing the players' reaction. Go on to the advertisements and come back only after 5 minutes. (What is the whole point of watching the match if the winning moment is not savored properly ?)

Just because Neo Cricket keeps retelecasting the match for two days, they cant make the live telecast so pathetic. It gets to the viewers' nerves and I dont know how the products shown in the advertisement will catch the viewer's attention and appeal them to go for it. Totally pointless.

I completely agree with your views. Infact I plan to call in their callup program Dial C For Cricket and vent out my ire over this pathetic telecast. Watching the telecast is no less than being under a hammer being struck on your head. They seem to have forgotten that the bowlers run up is also a part of the cricketing sense and not just the up stretched arm of teh bowler. The winning moments, the fall of a wicket seems not a part of cricket and a change of the ball mid over or a repair of pitch is just not cricket. is the BCCI listening who boast of having sent diktats to teh neo sports channel about teh same.
Very true Rohan. I am happy they are not showing ads between balls !! Another one irritating thing is to inlay the telecast and show an ad in the outer frame. And BCCI will do anything for money. Ultimately, cricket and good fans are the sufferers.

surprisingly Doordarshan was better this time when it came to ads. When a wicket fell, even before they show the replay & show the batsman walking off an ad was put on Neo Sports. So I had to switch immediately to DD to watch tat.
Only thing I didn't like about DD is the Hindi commentary & the crappy 4th umpire show.
He he, yes the show is quite mokkai comparing to Neo. And hindi commentry is an integral part of a National telecast coz DD is national channel.

That's for sure. It looks as though they have developed a secret invention called the "AD Force" which takes joy in presenting itself to the viewer in times when important cricketing scenes are involved. This doesn't seem to go off unless viewers call and present a few "positive" comments on that issue. If that happens, then I can see a "Handle with care" notice being put up on that very soon. :D
