1947- British quit India 2007- India conquer British


The Indian team's series victory in England couldn't have come in a better time. When India is celebrating its 60th year of independence, Team India (now dont argue its Team BCCI, please) has given a fitting gift to the nation. The series win, from a team without a formal coach, has underscored the importance of team work. How many times have you heard a series win with not one century from the front line batsmen ? (Forgive me Kumble, you are part of the tail. Perhaps near the joint, but a tail, nevertheless) How many times have you seen as many as eight 50+ partnerships in one innings ? And to top it all, when have you seen Anil Kumble torment a batsman, not only with the faster one, but also his steely glinting eyes and cutting razor sharp tone ? (I think I saw fear in Peterson's eyes.)

It is one of those few occasions where we really feel proud of our Indian cricket team. The 1983 World cup win, and 2002 Natwest win are also great. But they were one day triumphs. A cricketer's real test is to be tested in a test match. That way, this is a very special series win. The retiring warhorses will cherish their last series in the motherland of cricket. Come on guys, just continue the good form and clinch the ODI series too.

And Indians, learn from your cricketers to feel proud for the nation and to give the best for the nation. Be proud to be proud of the nation.

And remember, Koi bhi desh perfect nahin hotha. Usay behtar bananaa padtha hai. (No country is perfect. It needs to be perfected.) Lets pledge to give our best in whatever we do, and bring laurels to the nation. Jai Hind.

Well.. It's a great achievement.. but cannot be compared to the 83 world cup win... coz this is against an attack which lacks everything that's a basic necessity in Cricket.. But it can be compared to British's conquer o'er India as that was an attack by a strong team against a weak Mughal empire...

Though there is a popular belief that Chennai's weather can be classified into only three categories, (hot, hotter and hottest !!), the climate prevailing now is just perfect for the festive season, and people like me having a pre -exam vacation.
